Alcoa's
Trusted Home Inspection Service
History & Heritage
Originally known as "North Maryville," Alcoa was chartered in 1919 as a purposefully designed "company town" for the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA). It was a marvel of early 20th-century urban planning, created to house the massive labor force required for the company's South and West plants. The city’s identity is still deeply intertwined with this industrial legacy—it was built with distinct residential zones, expansive parks, and its own utility systems to support the workers who fueled the region’s economic engine.
Common Home Styles
You will find rows of sturdy, well-built Brick Cottages and Minimalist Traditional homes that served as original company housing. These homes are famous for their durability, but as an inspector, I focus on aging infrastructure, such as original galvanized piping or ungrounded electrical systems common in these builds. In newer sections of Alcoa, you’ll see Contemporary Two-Story homes and Modern Ranchers that cater to families who want to be close to the airport and the "Greenbelt" park system. We also keep an eye out for the rare "Alcoa Care-Free" homes—mid-century marvels built largely of aluminum as a showcase for the company’s product.
